*An Evening with Josh Groban* Disney Concert Hall 28.06

http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w149/tgil4/2011/AHF_Groban_email.jpg

Tyle się potworzyło tych oczekujących występów, że się już gubię. Mam nadzieję, że o tym jeszcze nie pisałam, haha. xD

"Thanks to the lovely Shauna/patience, we got an early headsup to a very special one night only performance in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Thursday, June 28 at 8:00 - presented by the Arts High Foundation and benefiting the Find Your Light Foundation. Premium tickets will be available soon - general tickets available at Ticketmaster in early May."

Brzmi świetnie!

Relacje szczęściarzy:

"Back at our hotel. FABULOUS show! A lot like STYT shows but with some stuff from Awake tour. Lots of the STYT Groband were there too!

Josh was loving being there & helping his school and the students. Lots of student participation! Dancers with Feb Song, sang Vinc ent for the visual arts students, Galileo for science, had choirs for Lullaby, Weeping, & YRMU. Also had student brass players on Machine. Took questions from the audience & sang The Prayer with a girl from the audience.

We waited outside a long time but he didn't come out.

It was a great show and they raised a half million dollars, so it was a huge success!

Congratulations to Josh for this triumphant return to his beloved school!"

"What a magical night. Josh was amazing, the student were full of love and energy. We enjoyed the pre-concert reception and then the concert began. Tanya is writing an indepth report, so I won't repeat the details. Hold on her report is coming soon.

Yep, a night to remember and it will take hours to come down from the Groban High."

"There was a crew with cameras who approached us as we were waiting for the reception in the outside patio area who identified themselves as filming for a new show called UpBeat for Fuse TV. They asked if they could put us on camera being interviewed if we signed a release. The premise of the show was unclear, but they were asking questions about being Groban fans, and when they found that Karen (sami) was the most traveled grobie, the interviewer asked her a series of questions regarding the presence of black fans at Groban concerts. Several funny questions and answers ensued, we signed a release and off we went to the reception. A lovely large room with all kinds of hot and cold appetizers and desserts, wine and other drinks. The president of Arts High gave a few words and particularly thanked the Grobanites for their generous support (yay!), they introduced Josh, and he kinda bounced in, took the stage and basically thanked everybody for being there, talked about how much his education meant to him, and especially his start from LACHSA, and then thanking his family. He was presented with a portrait of him with the primary benefactors and underwriters of his concert, and a cool abstract collage of New York. He looked really great, and seemed in very high spirits and looked rested and happy!

We had a very nice chat with Jack and met up with several grobies, then took our seats inside. We had front row, and it was just beautiful inside with a palpable excitement! Only got one pic of the "French Fries" (the modern art pillars behind the stage). Unfortunately, the ushers came and asked us to put our cell phones and cameras away as photos were not allowed .

The stage went dark and a few minutes after 8, the groband filed in, and the strains of "Straight to You" started, then just like a regular concert, Josh dashed out to the stage! The place went nuts! He went to the piano and started off with Changing Colors.

Here's the setlist (thank you for keeping track Cora!)
Changing Colors
February Song (with student ballet dancers on stage)
Alejate
Vincent
Alla Luce Del Sole
Galileo
Live and Let Die (acoustic) Groband
Josh's drum solo
Voce Existe Em Mim
Wandering Kind
Broken Vow (with Daniel Rosenboom)
Q. and A time
Duet (the prayer) with Jillian
Lullabye (with LACHSA studen choir)
Weeping (with choir)
Not While I'm Around
Machine (with student horn section)
YRMU
Encore:
Play Me
Smile

Josh did quite a bit of bantering and joking with the audience, and was delighted to identify some of his teachers in the audience. He was very animated and moved quite a bit around the stage, and accidentally knocked over his stool during Machine (ironically as he was singing "....when worlds collide"....but didn't miss a beat! The band was also obviously really happy to be playing together again, and Tariqh particularly was all over the place getting the audience to clap and move during the most upbeat numbers. The students were really amazing, and their faces literally glowed as they sang beautiful harmonies and backup on their songs, and you could see Josh smiling at them as he sang.

I know I've said this a bunch, but honestly, Josh's voice was probably as mellow as I've ever heard, and he really added a lot of lovely nuances to the lyrics of several songs, with Broken Vow and NWIA being particularly heartfelt and passionate...*sigh*.

There are lots of little details I'm probably forgetting, but he was magnificent, obviously enjoying every minute of his Full Circle moment, and gave us a wonderful wonderful show!

I only got one pic...it was my only shot so I went for it, being at the end of the concert so I didn't worry about getting busted...hehehe...

"What a night! Starting with the dinner Marie organized (Thanks, Marie!) and ending with meeting and visiting with Mark and Andre, it was Grobie nirvana! The dinner meet up was great with so many of us there including JGSarah and Val from GFC. I'm stealing a bit of one of PamT's stories: it turns out that one of our servers used to teach at LACHSA! He was surprised and thrilled that the concert was to benefit the school. He was there right before Josh started attending. Small connections. The atmosphere was excited and full of anticipation for what we knew would be an amazing show. And was it ever!!!

Tanya's report described the performance beautifully. I'll just add that Josh's voice is better than ever! "Smile" blew us all away. The work he and David R are putting in is paying off hugely and we get the fantastic benefit of listening to even more glorious sounds coming from that incredible throat! LOL I can't wait to hear what's in store for us was next!!!

Jackie, you asked what questions he took. He was asked how he liked NYC, what was his favorite song, and what inspired him. He asnswered that he loved NY and it was his home half the time now, a favorite song was Smile", and what inspired him were the kids. He was every bit as charming and funny as ever.

Afterwards we waited inside for a bit and Mark and Andre came down (we were told that they would be coming). They visited with us and other fans that were there for about 15 minutes or so. By this time the hall was pretty well emptied out. We then headed back to our hotel. And I just have to say that everything you've ever heard about LA traffic . . . is true!!! Yikes!!! I work in the fourth largest city in the country and am used to city traffic craziness but out here it never stops! Its all part of the LA experience, though.

It truly was an incredible night and one I won't forget."
